North Carolina Zoo Aviary Dome
Asheboro, North Carolina
The Aviary Dome at the North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro is home to a number of birds from all over the world. HVAC renovations to the dome replaced two failing fans in the underground air handling units and the exhaust fan housed in the cupola on top of the dome. Replacing the underground units proved to be a challenge due to an extremely tight ingress to the subterranean mechanical spaces.
Five new aluminum plenum fans with hard anodized frames and wheels were installed and provide an increased airflow and a much lower noise level improving the quality of the forested area for creatures and visitors.
