Durham Public Schools Sandy Ridge Elementary School – LEED Gold
Durham, North Carolina
This new 100,000 square foot elementary school in Durham, houses more than 700 children during the school year. The project received a USGBC LEED Gold Certification. The building was designed with a solar water heating system, rainwater collection and low flow plumbing fixtures. Multiple energy efficient HVAC systems for zoning and summer setback were installed in unused areas. A dashboard system was installed to demonstrate LEED building systems and energy consumption. Sub-metering of PME systems and monitoring by the dashboard system allows the school’s green features and energy consumption to be incorporated into the educational curriculum.
